Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Communications Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing and editing skills, along with a solid understanding of media relations and public relations strategies. As a Communications Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our brand's visibility and reputation through various communication channels.

Responsibilities

• Draft press releases & talking points
• Other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director & Deputy Director
• Monitor and post social media content
• Direct & Coordinate public and media relations
• Manage and implement communication projects
• Work across multiple departments and with various staff members to amplify the work of our advocates and assist them in communication best practices.
• Provide guidance and direction to management on potential and actual public relations concerns and emergencies.
• Develop communications strategy and materials to support the development activities of the development efforts and the Grants and Contracts department.

Skills

• Proficient in AP style guidelines for writing and editing.
• Strong public speaking abilities to effectively convey messages in various settings.
• Excellent research skills for gathering relevant information to support communication efforts.
• Background in journalism or related fields is preferred.
• Exceptional proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all written materials.
• Experience in media relations, including building relationships with journalists and influencers.
• Knowledge of marketing principles to align communication strategies with business objectives.
• Familiarity with public relations tactics to enhance brand reputation.
• Proficient in social media management, including content creation and audience engagement strategies.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey ideas and information.

Pay

• $30-$36/hr, based on experience

• 3-6 months
